Danny Masterson, 47, has been transferred to a maximum-security prison that has previously housed several other famous inmates, such as the serial killer Charles Manson.
In September 2023, the actor, famous for his role as Steven Hyde in the popular sitcom That ’70s Show, was sentenced to life in prison for raping two women.
Masterson was transferred from the North Kern State Prison in Delano, California, to the Corcoran State Prison in Corcoran, also in California, last Monday (29), where he will likely serve most of his sentence.
A judge denied Masterson’s bail request last week, citing he was a flight risk because he “had no wife to return home to.”
Masterson will be eligible for parole at age 66 in July 2042, according to California state prison records.
He will be under 24/7 surveillance, which includes continuous video camera monitoring along with checks by prison guards every 30 minutes.
If Masterson shows signs of “mental distress,” he will be placed in the prison’s Protective Housing Unit, where inmates are placed if they are subject to harm.
Masterson is the father of Fianna, 9, from his marriage to his ex-wife, actress Bijou Phillips, 43. Phillips stood by Masterson during the trials and even during his sentencing, until filing for divorce in September.
Citing “irreconcilable differences” in their separation process, Phillips also requested full custody of Fianna, but will allow her to visit her father in prison.
