The discovery of the money was revealed by Dan Dotson and his wife Laura, hosts of the TV show “Storage Wars”.

Dan Dotson and his wife Laura, auctioneers and hosts of the show “Storage Wars”, shared on their social media that one of the storage units containing $7.5 million in cash was sold for only $500.

In the show “Storage Wars”, locked storage units that have not been paid for three consecutive months are auctioned off; Traders bid on the units without knowing exactly what they contain and only have full access to the location after purchasing the unit. It is common to find items of some value, but so much money was a surprise to Dotson.

The auctioneer recounted in his post that a woman once approached him at one of his auctions to talk about the multimillion-dollar discovery: “She approached me and told me that her husband works with a guy who bought one of my units for $500 and found a safe inside.”

According to Dotson, it is common to find safes in storage units, but they are usually empty. In this case, after being opened, the new owner of the unit found nothing less than a real treasure. For the auctioneer, there is no explanation for what happened: “7.5 million dollars in a unit, I don’t think you would forget that, but maybe you were just in a position where someone else was in charge, I don’t know,” Dotson says in the video.

Laura also believes that something must have happened for the owners of the money to leave the safe there: “The credit card failed, they moved, maybe the person went to jail… who knows what happened”.
