According to the British outlet, the White House is reportedly favoring a deal involving Paramount Skydance, a company in which Larry Ellison is the majority shareholder.
The alleged favoritism would partly stem from these conversations between Ellison and officials of the US government. He reportedly mentioned at least once the possibility of a restructuring of CNN.
The conversation is said to have included the potential firing of reporters such as Erin Burnett and Brianna Keilar, who have previously been targets of criticism from Donald Trump. The supposed discussion reportedly left the White House “excited” about a deal between the two companies.
Larry Ellison also reportedly mentioned the possibility of airing CBS programs such as “60 Minutes” on CNN. CBS is owned by Paramount.

The Guardian reported that the billionaire holds no formal role in the company beyond being a shareholder. Paramount Skydance is run by David Ellison, Larry Ellison’s son.
The White House would reportedly be favorable toward Paramount due in part to a 16 million dollar agreement the company made with Donald Trump after the president sued the corporation for 10 billion dollars.
The accusation was that the company had misleadingly edited a “60 Minutes” interview with then–Vice President Kamala Harris before the 2024 presidential election.
