The host paused for a moment to clarify that he wasn’t asking about “the competence conversation,” but rather about the differences between the policies Biden wanted to implement and Harris’s priorities.
“I’m not talking about competence at all. No, I believe he was fully competent to serve,” Kamala Harris said, surprising Stewart.
“Do you really believe that?” he asked with a surprised expression. “I do,” replied the former vice president. “That actually surprises me,” said Stewart.
According to Kamala Harris, Biden would have been capable of serving a second term had he won the race against Donald Trump.
“Running for president of the United States is like running a marathon at a sprinter’s pace, while having tomatoes thrown at you with every step you take,” noted the Democrat.
“And being the sitting president while doing that… it’s a lot. It’s heavy,” she concluded. Stewart then commented on how difficult it is to convince people that he would have been able to lead the United States.
