Penn, 65, told Jimmy Fallon that he and Dylan, 84, argued “more than once” after the host asked the actor to confirm or deny some rumors about his life.

“It turns out Bob Dylan is a student of boxing, and I had a boxing ring five meters from my house and was friends with his son,” Penn said. “And at some point, his son Jesse told me: ‘You know, my dad would like to fight’.”

According to the actor, Dylan showed up every morning to train, and in fact, he and the singer didn’t talk much; “There wasn’t much conversation. It was like: ‘Good? Good’. And we trained,” Penn shared.

“Sorry, Bob, if I’m talking out of school here, but he did show up every morning,” Penn added. “It lasted about a month, I think. Around seven or eight in the morning, in his sweatshirt, with about six bullmastiffs jumping out of a van.”

Penn didn’t share further details about his boxing sessions with the folk rock icon, but he confirmed that he once tried stand-up comedy and that he really was one of the first people to hear the original version of Bruce Springsteen’s album Nebraska in 1982.
