Speaking with Piers Morgan on Tuesday (16), Charlie Sheen said it was clear that Matthew Perry had returned to drug use during the promotion of his memoir in 2022.

+ Charlie Sheen wrote in his book that Bill Clinton tried to flirt with his girlfriend in the 1980s

“You could tell he wasn’t sober while talking about a book that’s literally about sobriety and recovery,” Charlie Sheen said during his appearance on “Piers Morgan Uncensored.”

“When I heard a small excerpt… he didn’t have that perfect, specific diction, laser-focused, that he always had when delivering comedy or doing anything at the level he did,” he recalled while listening to the book.

“Friends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing” was released on November 1, 2022, a year before Matthew Perry’s death. He died at his home in October 2023 after using a high dose of ketamine.

The “Two and a Half Men” star said he read Perry’s book three weeks before his death. He noted they weren’t very close and that the book contained a line: “F… Charlie Sheen. I’m going to be as famous as him one day.”

Sheen admitted that he “wanted to reach out” to talk about the memoir but didn’t do so before the actor’s death.

“I read his book, read it in one day, and I loved it. And I’m very proud of him and inspired by it… I could feel, in some way, the prison he had put himself in,” he lamented.

Charlie Sheen told Page Six that he thought about calling Matthew Perry to grab a coffee, but never did.
