Now 63 years old, O’Donnell said she supported DeGeneres when she came out as an LGBT person during her program “Rosie O’Donnell Show,” which aired from 1996 to 2002.
The two had a 30-year friendship before they broke ties.
During an appearance on “Larry King Live,” DeGeneres, 67, did not seem to remember that occasion, which upset O’Donnell.
“And he asked her: ‘What happened to Rosie O’Donnell? Her show tanked,’” O’Donnell recalled.
“And Ellen said: ‘I don’t know Rosie. We’re not friends.’ And that was one of the most painful things that ever happened to me in show business and in my life. I couldn’t believe it,” lamented the comedian.
When asked why DeGeneres would say that, O’Donnell couldn’t answer.
“I don’t know, because I have pictures of her holding my newborn babies. I knew her for 30 years… It was very painful, and we never got over it.” She said Ellen never reached out with an apology.
The “Harriet the Spy” star commented that, although she doesn’t wish any harm to DeGeneres, she admitted that she “never managed to get over the hurt.”
