Known for her participation in the reality show “LA Ink,” Kat Von D said she lost her passion for tattooing after being acquitted in a lawsuit accusing her of copyright infringement.
The lawsuit was filed in 2021 by photographer Jeff Sedlik, who accused Kat Von D of tattooing a version of his 1989 photo of jazz musician Miles Davis on a friend’s arm.
Kat was acquitted by the jury in 2024. Since then, she has talked about her lack of desire to tattoo.
“I think I never want to tattoo anyone again,” she stated according to LADbible. “My heart has been broken in many ways throughout all of this.”
Now, at 43 years old, Kat Von D decided to celebrate her 18 years of sobriety with a tattoo removal session at Recovery.

In 2020, she told Inked Magazine that she planned to cover all of her tattoos with black ink because she was tired of waking up and seeing them.
“I can’t explain the satisfaction of seeing all the mess covered with blackout work (full black ink filling),” she commented.
A video posted on Kat Von D’s Instagram profile shows the tattoo artist performing a tattoo removal procedure on flowers on her neck. She appeared to be happy with the progress.
