On July 15th, another episode of the Netflix series “Trainwreck” premiered, detailing the story of the boy who was supposedly carried away in a helium balloon shaped like a flying saucer.
A boy named Falcon went missing in 2009 while his father, Richard Heene, was working on a project for a helium balloon shaped like a UFO.
At the time, the case was treated as a shocking story, as Falcon’s family couldn’t find the child and assumed he was inside the flying object.
Falcon’s brother claimed he saw the child trying to get into the balloon. The father called the TV stations and asked for helicopters to track the flying invention so they wouldn’t lose sight of the boy.
It turns out, according to Falcon himself in the Netflix documentary, he was in the attic of their house the entire time, contradicting the general belief that he might have fatally injured himself.

However, what was supposed to be a happy ending turned into a major police case. In an interview with CNN journalist Wolf Blitzer, the boy confirmed that he heard his parents calling but didn’t respond.
“You guys said we did this for the show,” the boy revealed, exposing Richard and Mayumi Heene.
The two were charged and convicted. Richard received 90 days in jail; and Mayumi, 20 days in jail on weekends. Additionally, they were ordered to pay \$36,000 in restitution.
“Trainwreck: Balloon Boy” is now available on the Netflix platform.
