Henry Cavill apparently wasn’t very willing to give tips to the new Superman actor, David Corenswet, on how to portray the DC hero.

Apparently, Cavill himself believed he would reprise Clark Kent, according to an announcement made by the actor in 2022, shortly after appearing alongside Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson in the film Black Adam.
“I wanted to make it official: I’m back as Superman… Thank you for the support and patience. I promise it will be rewarded,” he wrote at the time.
However, about a month later, the James Gunn and Peter Safran era at DC Studios was announced, and their plans apparently did not include Cavill. After that, Corenswet was announced for the role.
According to Variety, Cavill’s return as Superman motivated him to leave Netflix’s The Witcher series. But while fans speculated that the relationship between Cavill and Corenswet was tense because of this, that apparently is not the case.
During the Superman premiere, Corenswet told Heart that he received “encouraging” words from Cavill and from Taylor Hoechlin, 37, who portrayed the hero 11 times.
“I had the pleasure of exchanging letters with two previous Supermen — Henry Cavill and Tyler Hoechlin. Interestingly, both said in their own words: ‘I’m not going to try to give you tips,’” Corenswet said on the red carpet.
“And I think that’s something very typical of Superman. Superman isn’t so much about giving advice or dictating how others should be. They really gave me encouragement and a feeling of ‘have fun with it.’ Which I think is also Superman’s way of doing that.”
