WRGB presenter Olivia Jaquith announced on Wednesday (21) that her water had broken moments before the show started.

Despite the medical emergency, the presenter continued hosting the newscast for three hours, making light-hearted jokes with colleagues about her pregnancy.

Co-host Julia Dunn did a live broadcast on Facebook minutes before going on air to share the news with followers and viewers of the morning news.

“This is not an April Fool’s joke, Olivia’s water broke, right? Here at the newsroom?” Dunn asks. “Here at the newsroom,” Jaquith confirms.

“We have breaking news this morning. Literally, Olivia’s water broke and she is presenting the news now while in active labor,” Dunn announced at the start of the program.

“Early labor. Let’s take it easy,” joked Jaquith, explaining that contractions had been detected by her doctor after she felt discomfort.

“I’m happy to be here and I’ll stay at the desk as long as I can,” she said. “But if I disappear, you know what’s happening,” Jaquith warned.

The presenter’s baby was two days overdue from the expected delivery date, and the show’s production team took the opportunity to lighten the mood by writing “Baby watch” and “Here comes baby P, good luck Olivia” on the display.

Jaquith’s son was announced on Thursday (22), her first with her husband Tyn.
