José Mayer will return to the screens of Globo, a year after being fired, in the re-broadcast of Fina Estampa, currently airing in the prime time slot on the channel.
In the soap opera, José Mayer plays the character Pereirinha, Griselda’s (Lilia Cabral) ex-husband.
In the original version, Mayer appeared for the first time in chapter 67, after Pereirinha is confirmed as the big winner of the lottery prize. In the special edition, re-edited by Globo, Pereirinha will return as early as chapter 38.
Pereirinha’s return begins when the volleyball team spots a boat drifting on the sea. The boat’s name, “Flor do Tejo”, is recognized by Ferdinand (Carlos Machado), who remembers that it was exactly the name of Griselda’s ex-husband’s boat.
When Pereirinha hears about the incident, he runs to the beach and is surprised to find his old partner alive. “My God, what a bad joke is this, what did I do to deserve such punishment… More than fifteen years later, the parasite shows up again?!”, says the new millionaire.
Pereirinha, on the other hand, expresses disappointment with Griselda’s reception: “I thought my wife, the mother of my children, would come and get me and bring me back home. I stayed there, waiting, for her… But where is that ungrateful woman who didn’t even show her face?”
