The Bell Works building previously served as the home of the Bell Labs research and development center.
Production designer Jeremy Hindle told CNBC Make It that the location stood out for its ideal atmosphere matching the “unsettling tone” of “Severance.”
He noted that the building was originally designed to be a welcoming environment for the families of scientists and engineers—very much like the concept behind Lumon Industries.
“Severance” follows the story of Mark (Adam Scott), an employee at Lumon who agrees to take part in an experiment that separates his work memories from his personal ones.
