During the show “The Drew Barrymore Show,” actress Andie MacDowell shared with the host about her treatment for piriformis syndrome, a condition affecting the sciatic nerve.
Actress Andie MacDowell, 66, revealed during Thursday’s episode of “The Drew Barrymore Show” on January 23rd that she was recently diagnosed with piriformis syndrome and underwent a “miraculous” treatment to recover.
Piriformis syndrome causes pain in the glutes and down the back of the leg due to compression of the sciatic nerve by the piriformis muscle.

“It’s a muscle that kind of presses on my sciatic nerve, and the pain shot down my leg. I thought I would need a hip replacement. Thank God my hips are okay,” MacDowell told Barrymore.
The actress shared that she works on her glutes and hips every day, and now she no longer feels pain. “It’s a miracle, it really is,” said MacDowell.
She also talked about how her intense workout routine had left her “knees bad and hips bad.” “But the good news is, my joints are okay. My knees are good, except for aging. They’ve aged,” she noted.
Despite everything, Andie MacDowell believes that getting older doesn’t make her feel less beautiful. “I like all the terms we use for older men,” she said. “I want to keep those terms. I want to be charming. Why not? What a beautiful term,” she told People magazine in 2023.
