Gerry Turner, star of the dating reality show The Golden Bachelor, has been diagnosed with incurable cancer.

“I went to [the doctor], and the orthopedic surgeon said, ‘Yes, Gerry, there’s not much we can do for your shoulder, but there are some unusual blood markers here,'” the 73-year-old TV personality shared.

“And then an orthopedic surgeon went to my family doctor, and my family doctor referred me to an oncologist,” he explained to People magazine.

He then revealed that he had been diagnosed with a slow-growing bone marrow cancer called “Waldenström’s macroglobulinemia.”

“Unfortunately, there is no cure for it. So it weighs heavily on every decision I make. It was like 10 tons of concrete had just fallen on me. And I was in a bit of denial for a while, I didn’t want to admit it.”

Now, he said he intends to embrace life more. “I wanted my life to continue as normally as possible, and that led me to believe that the most normal thing meant spending more time with my family, my two daughters, my two sons-in-law, and my granddaughters.”
