The documentary Dancing for the Devil: The 7M TikTok Cult, released by Netflix last week, is leaving internet users stunned due to the involvement of several famous TikTok dancers.

The documentary, which premiered on May 29th, has three episodes that delve into the involvement of a group of prominent TikTok dancers who are “trapped in a cult disguised as a management company.”

The series examines the involvement of Miranda Wilking, who was previously part of the dance duo The Wilking Sisters, alongside her sister, Melanie. The documentary describes how her family “is desperately trying to get her out of there.”

Throughout the documentary, viewers learn how the dancers ended up with the management company 7M Films, based in Los Angeles, owned by pastor Robert Shinn. Miranda is still involved with the company and previously stated that she “is not being held against [her] will.”

“The false claims about 7M stem directly from a dispute between dancer Miranda Derrick, represented by 7M, and her estranged family,” said a spokesperson representing 7M Films and pastor Shinn in a statement to the Daily Mail.

“Despite her family’s claims, Miranda is a successful businesswoman and a loving wife and daughter who cares deeply for her family. It is pathetic and contemptible to try to turn her private family matters into a public scandal for clicks.”

On social media, internet users commented on the case. “I want to cry. The things people do for religion,” said a user from X (Twitter). “I just don’t understand how people can undergo so much brainwashing,” commented another.

“If your denomination prevents you from seeing your family or families are torn apart because of the principles they teach, you’re likely in a cult,” emphasized a third internet user. “The vast amount of abuse inflicted under the guise of religion is staggering,” reflected another.
