During an appearance on the podcast “Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend”, the Rolling Stones frontman said he never met Elvis Presley in person and blamed Lennon for it.
Jagger, 82, explained that the legendary Beatle once told him that he should never meet his idols: “‘I would never meet Elvis, Mick, if I were you.’ And that’s what I did. I followed John’s advice,” he told O’Brien.
According to the singer, the advice made sense to him at the time, but he now deeply regrets not having had the opportunity to meet the King of Rock and Roll.
“It was really very stupid of me. I would have loved to meet Elvis. Why did I follow John’s advice?!” Jagger asked.
“I mean, at the time, it seemed to make sense… He told me this whole story about meeting Presley in 1965, more than once, so that bothered me.”
