Puerto Rican singer Bad Bunny has earned his first Primetime Emmy Awards nomination thanks to his performance during the Super Bowl LX halftime show.

The special was nominated in the Outstanding Variety Special (Live) category, marking another recognition for the spectacle broadcast in February this year.

In addition to Bad Bunny’s nomination as a performer and executive producer, the show received nine Emmy nominations, making it the most-nominated Super Bowl halftime show in the history of the awards. The categories include directing, music direction, lighting, production design and sound mixing.

The performance made history as the first to be headlined by a solo Latino artist and performed almost entirely in Spanish. The show featured guest appearances by names including Lady Gaga, Ricky Martin and the group Los Pleneros de la Cresta.

Despite drawing criticism from conservative groups in the United States even before it took place, the spectacle was a ratings success and generated worldwide attention.

According to the event’s organizers, the performance recorded more than 4.1 billion views in the first 24 hours after being made available on digital platforms. The Emmy winners will be announced at the ceremony scheduled for September 14.
