Fans of Tom Cruise complained on social media about the actor’s different facial appearance in a promotional video for the Super Bowl 2025, released on Sunday (February 9).
Tom Cruise, 62, worried his fans after appearing in a Super Bowl 2025 commercial. They claimed that the actor’s face looked “stretched” and that artificial intelligence (AI) may have been used to alter Cruise’s appearance.
The star of the “Mission: Impossible” franchise took part in the ad to hype up fans for the game between the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles.
In the video, Cruise slowly walks through a dark room with multiple screens showing iconic NFL moments.
“Tonight, in New Orleans, we face a mission that doesn’t happen often. The long and winding road here has led to this moment,” he said while looking into the camera.
While he was giving the speech about the game, the standout players from the Chiefs and Eagles appeared, surrounded by microphones. Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, Jalen Hurts, DeVonta Smith, and many others appeared on camera.
The motivational speech and epic soundtrack were not the only things that caught fans’ attention. Many commented on X (formerly Twitter) that the actor’s face seemed “stretched.”
“Tom Cruise at SuperBowl LIX talking about pressure, there is no bigger pressure than the pressure of his skin trying to stay stretched on his face,” joked one user.
Another user made a joke, blaming Scientology for the actor’s appearance:
“Tom Cruise is AI incarnate,” said a fan who suspected the use of artificial intelligence.
