Oscar-nominated actor Timothée Chalamet reveals that he gained 9 kg to resemble Bob Dylan in the biographical film “A Complete Unknown.”

Timothée Chalamet shared on NPR’s All Things Considered program that he gained 9 kg to look like Bob Dylan in the film “A Complete Unknown.”

“I did all the physical and behavioral work. But something we haven’t talked much about is that I also gained 9 kg. Believe it or not, I was slimmer than him,” revealed Chalamet, who was nominated for the Oscar for Best Actor for his role in the film.

The film’s director, James Mangold, mentioned that the actor was “slimmer than Bob.” “You had to gain weight to become Bob Dylan. That’s hilarious,” joked host Alisa Chang.

In addition to the physical preparation, the “Dune” star had to learn to sing, talk, and even walk like the musician, who showed his support for the film on social media.

“Timmy is a brilliant actor, so I’m sure he’ll be completely convincing as me. Or as a younger me. Or some other me,” Bob Dylan wrote on his X profile (formerly Twitter).

“This is a film about folk music and folk musicians. Authenticity needs to be felt,” explained Timothée Chalamet.

“A Complete Unknown” is now playing in theaters and stars Elle Fanning and Monica Barbaro.
