Before the final season, the creators of “Stranger Things,” the Duffer Brothers, announced new projects related to the Netflix series universe.

With the conclusion of “Stranger Things” on the horizon, the Duffer Brothers announced at the Next on Netflix event on January 29 that more projects in the series universe are in development.

Matt and Ross Duffer revealed that there are more stories to tell.

“While this may be the end of the story for Mike, Hopper, Dustin, Lucas, Eleven, and the others, it is not a farewell to Stranger Things. There are many other stories to tell,” said Matt Duffer.

“Stranger Things: The First Shadow” is a stage play that tells a story set years before the events of the series. The production was launched in 2023 and will debut on Broadway in March 2025.

In addition, the Duffer Brothers announced two other projects to be released by Upside Down Pictures: “The Boroughs” and “Something Very Bad is Going to Happen,” scheduled for release in 2026.

Matt Duffer explained that both productions focus on stories of ordinary people facing extraordinary events.

He highlighted “The Boroughs,” which shares several similarities with “Stranger Things,” as it tells the story of a “group of misfits battling otherworldly evil.” The cast includes Alfred Molina, Geena Davis, Alfre Woodard, and Bill Pullman.
