Those who have already watched the new Netflix series “The Perfect Couple” don’t understand why the actors are dancing in the show’s opening sequence.

Although it seems like the cast is having fun, they actually even created a WhatsApp group to avoid the scene, but in the end, director Susanne Bier’s idea went through and everyone participated in the synchronized dance to the song “Criminals” by Meghan Trainor.

“Everyone in that group said they didn’t want to do it because we just didn’t understand it,” said actress Meghann Fahy to Variety. “Actually, I have a very, very hard time learning choreography, so I was really nervous about it.”

To IndieWire, Bier revealed why she chose the dance for a murder series: “First of all, it’s very joyful and fun, but it also suggests to the audience, ‘Hey, you’re allowed to laugh here. You don’t have to think that this is too dark and too serious because it’s not.’”

The six-part series, adapted from Elin Hilderbrand’s best-seller, stars Nicole Kidman as Greer Garrison Winbury, a famous novelist who is married to Tag, played by Liev Schreiber.

The couple is organizing a luxurious wedding for their son Benji (Billy Howle) and his fiancée Amelia (Eve Hewson) at their mansion in Nantucket, when a brutal murder occurs and everyone becomes a suspect.
