Rashida Jones spoke about her departure from “The Office” on the Good Hang podcast with Amy Poehler. The actress admitted that fans of the series didn’t enjoy her character’s presence.

Years after her appearance on “The Office,” Rashida Jones opened up to Amy Poehler on the Good Hang podcast about being let go from the show. The actress believes she wasn’t winning over the fans.

Jones played the character Karen Filippelli, an employee at Dunder Mifflin’s Stamford branch who became a love interest for Jim Halpert, played by John Krasinski.

Unfortunately for Rashida Jones, fans were rooting for Jim to end up with Jenna Fischer’s character, Pam Beesly.

“I spent a year on ‘The Office’ and then they let me go, which made sense. It made sense,” she told the host, with whom she had worked on “Parks and Recreation.”

“You had a tough job, because everyone was cheering for Jim and Pam, and then who shows up? A really cool and charismatic character, and everyone was like, ‘Oh no, wait a second,’” commented Amy Poehler.

Reflecting on her role, Rashida Jones said she felt her character was created to “build tension” between Jim and Pam. “So I was the third point of the triangle. That’s fine. I accept it,” she concluded.

Karen Filippelli was Jim Halpert’s love interest during Season 3 of “The Office,” when John Krasinski’s character transferred branches. In the end, Halpert ended up with Pam.
