A figure depicted on the lid of a coffin found in a cemetery in Minya, Egypt, surprised many by being strikingly similar to Marge Simpson. The 3,000-year-old historical painting in the Egyptian tomb was discovered in June and went viral due to its incredible resemblance to the beloved cartoon character.
A photo of the coffin lid posted on Reddit sparked numerous reactions from people. One user exclaimed: “Marge?” while another joked about the cartoon’s predictive fame: “Egypt predicted the Simpsons.”
The painting shows a woman with yellow skin, a blue crown, and a green outfit; according to The Egyptian Gazette, the coffin belonged to Tadi Ist, daughter of the High Priest of Djehouti in Ashmunein. Inside the coffin, the mummified person appeared to be wearing a mask and a beaded dress over her body.
