Netflix has released a teaser trailer for “The Golden Ticket,” a competition reality show inspired by “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.” Participants will be selected exclusively from U.S. residents.
“The Golden Ticket” is the streaming giant’s new competition reality show, inspired by the book “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.” Contestants will face a series of challenges inside Willy Wonka’s factory.
The streaming service holds the rights to Roald Dahl’s works, the author of the book that inspired the 1971 and 2005 film adaptations of the same name, as well as the recent movie starring Timothée Chalamet, “Wonka.”
“The Golden Ticket” is being produced in partnership with Eureka Productions, responsible for shows like “The Mole,” “Dating Around,” and “TwentySomethings.”
The company was chosen in a competition against other production studios, including The Garden, which is behind the reality show “Squid Game: The Challenge.”
The selection of contestants is already underway, and only U.S. residents will be chosen. They will face both physical and mental challenges inside Willy Wonka’s factory.
“We are excited to bring the magic of ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’ to life like never before,” said Jeff Gaspin, Vice President of Unscripted.
“The Golden Ticket” does not yet have a release date but is expected to arrive on the streaming service by the end of 2025.
