Margaret Qualley revealed during an interview on the podcast Happy Sad Confused that the prosthetics she wore in the film “The Substance” caused a “serious” acne breakout on her face.
“At the end, when they were filming under my skirt at the start of the credits, with the palm trees around and the long lenses from above, it was because my face was so ‘ruined,'” the actress said.
“It probably took a year to physically recover from all of it,” said Qualley, who mentioned that the irritation eventually became useful for her role in “Kinds of Kindness.”
“So, you know, the character that has all that acne? That was just my acne caused by the prosthetics,” she said with a laugh.
In the movie “The Substance,” Margaret Qualley plays a younger version of Elisabeth Sparkle (Demi Moore). The film was a success among critics and earned Moore a Golden Globe.
