MrBeast is preparing for Beast Games, his new game show that will air on Amazon Prime. But the show is already surrounded by several controversies.</h2
The 26-year-old YouTuber, who became even more famous for his videos dubbed “Squid Game in real life,” announced in March that he would be hosting the reality show.
Before the series launches on the streaming platform later this month, MrBeast has now revealed that he built a “city” worth 14 million dollars for the series.
“I’m trying to make the most watched streaming show ever,” said MrBeast, whose real name is James “Jimmy” Donaldson, on the The Colin and Samir Show podcast.
The first episode comes out Thursday (19) on Prime. But several staff members from the program have come forward with accusations against MrBeast and Amazon, and the company has even received a lawsuit over poor working conditions behind the scenes.
The list of accusations against the YouTuber and streaming giant includes: failure to pay minimum wage and overtime, failure to prevent harassment, subjecting participants to “emotional distress,” not providing meal or rest breaks, lack of access to basic hygiene, and exposure to “unsafe conditions.”
At the end of last month, MrBeast used his X profile (formerly Twitter) to respond to a user who asked him about the accusations after the official trailer for the program, and he said that his team “will show behind-the-scenes footage […] to show how exaggerated these claims were.”
