Jennifer Love Hewitt breaks her silence on rumors of a conflict with Sarah Michelle Gellar.
The rumors about the conflict arose when Gellar attended the premiere of Dexter: Original Sin on Wednesday (11) and was asked about Hewitt’s supposed involvement in a sequel to I Know What You Did Last Summer.
“I have nothing to do with it,” Gellar replied coldly before turning away from the reporter. On Friday (13), Hewitt confirmed her return as Julie James in the franchise in an Instagram post, which confused fans.
Hewitt and Gellar starred together in the 1997 slasher film, but Gellar is not joining Hewitt and her husband, actor Freddie Prinze Jr., in the new movie. After the rumors of their conflict, Hewitt spoke out on a podcast and opened up more about the situation.
“It’s funny that I’m just hearing about, like, there being this thing where people think Sarah and I had a falling out or something. There’s so much at play,” Hewitt said on the podcast I’ve Never Said This Before, hosted by Tommy DiDario.
“I just think it’s funny now to read all those things and go, ‘What do people think about what we were doing back then and now, all these things?’” the actress continued.
“Somebody recently said, ‘Yeah, I think Julie insisted on getting killed because actresses don’t like working with other actresses.’ And I thought, ‘What are you talking about?’ I was 18,” Hewitt noted.
“They didn’t take my script notes seriously, guys. What are you talking about? We were all in that experience together, we all learned, and so on,” she remembered.
“I wish her [Gellar] all the best, and Freddie, and I think it’s the sweetest thing in the world that they’ve been married for 100 years and have kids. That’s amazing. So yeah, it was really funny to see all those things that people thought,” she said.
