“Star Wars” child actor Jake Lloyd, who portrayed Anakin Skywalker in the 1999 film “Episode I – The Phantom Menace,” has been in a mental health center for 10 months, according to information provided by his mother, Lisa Lloyd.
In a recent interview, she shared that Jake began an inpatient program after suffering a psychotic episode in March 2023, while she was driving him home after getting food at McDonald’s.
During the drive, he told his mother he wanted to turn off the car, which he did in the middle of three lanes, and subsequently, the incident caused a traffic jam, prompting other drivers to call 911.
Jake, diagnosed with schizophrenia in 2008, was admitted to a hospital. Several months later, he checked into the rehabilitation center, which was significant, according to Lisa: “He’s doing much better than I expected… He’s relating better to people and becoming a bit more sociable, which is very good.”
