An old video of Henry Cavill shows the actor auditioning for the role of James Bond. Unfortunately, Cavill lost the role to Daniel Craig, who became the new face of the franchise until 2021.

“Man of Steel” star Henry Cavill went viral on social media after an old video of his audition for James Bond resurfaced on YouTube. The recording is from 2005.

Cavill was auditioning for the famous 007 agent role in the film “Casino Royale” (2006). The actor lost the role to Daniel Craig, who portrayed the character until 2021, when he bid farewell to the franchise.

The video shows a young Cavill, 22 years old, wearing a leather jacket, with shoulder-length hair and a thin beard that extended along his chin. He delivers iconic lines like “Bond, James Bond” and “vodka martini, shaken, not stirred.”

The film’s director, Martin Campbell, told The Express how Henry Cavill almost got the role of agent 007.

“He was great at the audition. His performance was tremendous. And look, if Daniel didn’t exist, Henry would have been an excellent Bond. He looked great, was in fantastic shape, very handsome, very striking,” he revealed.

Campbell said that Cavill would now be a bit too old for the role. “Henry is 40, so by the time he finished his third film, he’d already be 50, and each film usually takes two or three years to make,” the director explained.
