The last episode of the show aired in 2015, and since then, the series has continued with films released in 2019 and 2022.
The creator of the series, Julian Fellowes, said in an interview with Radio Times last May that he did not rule out the possibility of returning to the production of “Downton Abbey.” “I’ve said goodbye to Downton so many times and written the last scene six or seven times. Now, I’m used to not making permanent statements about whether it’s over or not,” Fellowers declared.
The producers have not yet confirmed the return of all actors from previous seasons, but they said they were delighted with the cast. “People working on the film set have had to sign non-disclosure agreements,” a source told Mail Online.
Still without a premiere date, the seventh season of “Downton Abbey” is expected to air at the end of 2024 on the British Independent Television (ITV) network. The last episode of the show aired on Christmas 2015, with a peak audience of 7.4 million viewers.
“Downton Abbey” is a drama series set in England in the 20th century between the years 1912 and 1928, shortly after the Titanic disaster.
