Legal sources told TMZ Sports that an occupational therapist, who was with Hulk Hogan when he passed away on July 24, allegedly claimed that the wrestling star had died as a result of a medical error.

The therapist alleged that a surgeon had “severed” the athlete’s phrenic nerve during a recent operation. This nerve controls the diaphragm, the muscle responsible for breathing.

The allegation was reportedly included in the police report regarding the 911 response at the WWE icon’s home in Florida. Hulk Hogan’s daughter, Brooke Hogan, confirmed this information to TMZ.

Initially, Brooke doubted the circumstances of her father’s death.

“We don’t have cancer that runs in our family,” she said on the Bubba the Love Sponge radio show. “It seems strange. Leukemia coming out of nowhere sounds like a big lie to me,” she continued in the July interview.

A spokesperson for Clearwater Police, in turn, stated that the investigation is ongoing and that they are “maintaining communication with family members, including his son Nick and daughter Brooke.”

Hulk Hogan is survived by his wife, Sky Daily, and his two children, Nick and Brooke, from his previous marriage to Linda Boella.
